Duarte Ryu
Martial Art of the Dominican Republic
Newsletter June 2008
For June of 2008 we are excited to announce that we have a sister dojo in Glendale Arizona. Yume Dojo is the dojo of Shihan Renshi Lou Klaff. Shihan teaches his own system of Martial Art called Shizenryu (“Natures Way”) Jutsu. Shizenryu represents 30 years of training in the martial arts in various styles. The 3 Sensei's of Yume Dojo have been training together for over 20 years. Shihan Lou has been training for over 30 years himself. The base of Shizenryu is Jujutsu, and 4 styles of Jujutsu are studied; however Karate/Kempo is also in the curriculum. We are glad to be associated with such knowledgeable and great sensei as those at the Yume dojo in Ariziona. We at Duarte Ryu have learned much from Shihan in the development of concepts and principles in the martial arts. To learn more about this exciting system please visit.....

Also this month we would like to recognize some of our students who have recently tested and have been promoted to Yellow Tip. Ruben and Keenan Daniels, and Sam Rodriguez have tested and passed all the requirements to wear this rank in the system. We congratulate them on all of their hard work and dedication.
We also want our students to know that it is not the belt ranking that makes them a good martial artist, but the time and dedication they put into their practice of techniques, as well as learning concepts and principles. Sometimes in the martial arts rankings can be very controversial and political, so it has become our philosophy to observe rankings, but also to teach not to rely or rest on them for assurance of self defense. The guy on the street doesn't care what ranking or title you hold. So keep up the good work, train hard, learn, and concentrate only on making yourself better.
